GENERAL Q) How many days of information can be stored on the memory module? A) The number of days to fill the module is determined from the programmable sample rate. The present modules have a capacity for 20,000 sample sets, or 60,000 samples in total.. For perspective, approximately 10 samples could be taken within the width of a pen line trace for the entire rotation of a single circular chart with the pens at 100% of scale A suitable sample rate considers the resolution needed to accurately reproduce the chart record, and how often you want to download the data. 7 day downloads at chart change intervals are currently the most common, however a migration trend toward 31 day charts / download intervals may occur in some applications. Q) What do I need to get started? A) The METERdat base system comes with the circuit board assembly, an array of 3 pen assemblies, the battery pack, EasyChart and OnBoard software, installation and operation instructions. There are also some shared devices that you will need with the first unit. They are the " module reader" hardware, a serial programming cable and possibly spare memory modules. The accessories can be used generically among the METERdat hardware. If you are installing the METERdat into a barton compatible recorder with older spring type chart retainers, you will also need the METERdtat conversion brackets. Q) How much does METERdat cost? A) The base system is priced at $2500 cdn in single quantities for the local Canadian market. Large volume orders will be entitled to, and rewarded with large price discounts. Q) Can METERdat operate with wireless modems such as spread-spectrum, CDPD, and sattelite? A) In short, the answer is yes based on a preliminary technical review conducted by ourselves and Doug Calvert at the Hoskins Scientific Edmonton Branch. Hoskins is the Canadian Authorized distributor of the Elpro 905U range of spread spectrum RS232 telemetry modules. Remote communication developments are expected to provide growth opportunities for METERdat and our communication partners, and add system value for our clients. MAINTENANCE Q) What procedure should be used during routine chart recorder maintenance? A) Routine recorder maintenance might involve calibration, clock battery replacement or perhaps replacing a static element to a more appropiate range. These operations all require that the chart recorder be taken out of service. The METERdat logging cycle should be stopped prior to this to avoid corrupted flow data. Following recorder service, the METERdat calibration values should be reset, the meter put back in service, a fresh module inserted and the logging resumed. MODULES Q) Can the modules be read more than once? A) Yes, the modules may be downloaded multiple times as the data is not erased from them, but over-written by the next logging period. Once the modules are read once, they are marked "refreshed" and can then be reused. Q) Should the full modules be put in separate labelled envelopes to identify them by well? A) No, this is not generally required since the modules are all electronically marked with well identification. Q) Do the same modules have to be put back into the same meters for the next logging period? A) No, the refreshed modules may be re-used generically amoung the METERdat systems once they have been read.. OTHER Q) How do I print the entire pages on METERdat.com? The right hand edge is cut off when I print-preview the page. A) Reset the margins using the Page set-up under the File menu on the Microsoft browser. |
